Dolls, Dolls, Dolls

I just have to do something related to photography on my relaxing holiday! I wanted to go for a long time to this "Island of the dolls" in #Mexico. So when I had my trip planned to Mexico and Cuba I knew this place was one of the things I had to do!

The island was once the property of Don Julián Santana, a local farmer. Legend has it that in 1950 he saw a little girl drown in the canal and her spirit began haunting the place. Terrified, Don Julián started collecting dolls to protect himself from her ghost. He gathered them from trash heaps and hung them around the island like creepy Christmas ornaments. Over half a century, he collected more than 1,500 of these little horrors.

So I went to this place where I had to find someone to rent me a boat, but no one wanted to bring me there because of the hurricane season and the recent earthquake it was hard to get to the Island. I told them that I came all the way from The Netherlands just to see this so after a long talk they called someone who might wanted to bring me.

Luckily he was able to bring me there so after a little ride with a bike-taxi I met the guy who was going to help me out!

After a little boat-ride of about 20 minutes we arrived to the Island. I was impressed of the amount of creepy dolls here!

I just didn't know where to start ... So many and I was so lucky with the light. I came around 4 so the sun was not so strong anymore but good enough to make the place even better then it already was!

I took my Nikon D750 out of my bag and I started to shoot! I used mostly the Tamron 24-70 and the Tamron 70-200 G2

200mm - F/3.5 - 1/4000sec - iso100

One was even creepier then the other one I just couldn't get enough of this Island

I spent some hours to photograph and had to go back because the guy was waiting for me.

It was amazing trip. Just by seeing this Island my trip was already a big success.
